Style Error: Pontifical Biblical Institute

Hi, I'd like to suggest a couple of improvements to the Pontifical Biblical Institute style.

1) I've recently noticed that the abbreviation "et al." appears in small caps, but it should be in regular type. An example can be found in the first page of this article: https://poj.peeters-leuven.be/content.php?url=article.php&id=3293717&journal_code=BIB. I think this applies everywhere: authors/editors, book/book section/journal article, first mention/subsequent mentions, footnotes/bibliography, etc.

2) According to the official norms (https://www.peeters-leuven.be/pdf/Instructions_Biblica.pdf), book titles should be in italics, but subtitles should be in regular print, and the two should be separated by a period. Maybe this cannot be made automatic in Zotero, as the software does not provide a "Subtitle" field for the relevant item types; but maybe (I don't know) the style can be coded so as to recognize the string ". ", ": " or " : " in titles (period/colon followed by a space; colon preceded by a space in French) and switch to regular print just before the period. This applies to footnotes and bibliography alike. It applies to books (including when mentioned for book sections), but maybe also to the name of certain journals when no abbreviation is used. Finally, it applies to the first mention of a book, while in subsequent mentions it would be ideal for the subtitle to automatically disappear, unless the user manually provides an even shorter "Short title".

Thank you in advance!

We are promoting Zotero among fellow students at our Institute, and these improvements would definitely help!
  • I'm sorry, I had missed that guideline, I have removed the tags to avoid notifications for subsequent comments.
  • I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to look into the issue.

These improvements – especially the one concerning subtitles, which would affect a significant number of books – would be very beneficial in encouraging a wider use of Zotero among students and researchers at our Institute.
  • I'd be happy to have a look at issue #1, but the link to the open-access article doesn't work.
  • It should be possible to preview the first page of the article by clicking on the button under the journal cover. There, in footnote #4, there is an example of "et al." in regular type.

    Thank you!
  • Yeah, now I see. Thanks.
    I just pushed a fix.
Regarding the non-italic subtitle. Current CSL cannot do this afaik.
But you can reverse-uno the italics like so: Varieties of capitalism. <i>The institutional foundations of comparative advantage</i>
  • Thank you for the fix and for your helpful suggestion!

I've just tried the "i" tag for subtitles and I think it's going to be good enough for me and many others.
