Hello, since the newest Update of Better BibTex for Zotero to 7.0.8 my automatic integration into obdisian is not possible anymore as it gives me this error when trying:

Zotero could not load the component necessary to communicate with your word processor. Go to Tools → Add-ons → Extensions in Zotero and make sure that the extension for your word processor is enabled.

In addition these errors seen in the error-code appear: 797766362

I do know that Zotero 7 has some problems with the integrations but I thought I found a work-around (which unfortunately doesn't work as of today anymore)

Thank you for your help in advance and have a nice week,

Greetings,
Yannick

  • For problems with a plugin, you'll need to contact the plugin developer.
  • Note, too, that you're running a version of Zotero from September 2024. You should install the latest version from the download page and figure out why you haven't received automatic updates in six months.
  • (but I'd guess the BBT dev will want you to use the most recent Zotero version, i.e. 7.0.15, for troubleshooting issues with the plugin)

    (This is Zotero 7.0.6. It's BBT 7.0.8.)
  • Thank you everyone for the fast replies! For clarification I'm (currently) using BBT 7.0.8 and Zotero 7.0.6 (on Mac).

But as you already pointed out it's actually BBT that received an update today (to 7.0.8) so I should probably start looking for news/fixes on their site.

I am a little frightened by just updating to newest version with downloading the latest version and installing it as I don't know if my current Library will still be intact. I have tried to export it, yet it states that there "An error occurred while trying to export the selected file."

  • Updating to the latest version won't affect your data. You should always be running the latest version, and the only reason you wouldn't be is if you changed a hidden setting or something on your network is blocking updates. We can't help you further here as long as you're on an outdated version.

(But an export isn't a backup, in any case.)
  • I've updated to the newest version of Zotero and it seems to be working again! Thank you very much for your help!

Of course I do understand that keeping Updates current is important, yet I still can't seem to grasp why I didn't receive automatic updates but I'll look into it. Thank you again for your help and also the tip that an export is not a backup, I have also included a backup on my external hard drive now.

    You can close this thread.

    Greetings and thanks,
    Yannick
  • I'm getting heaps of reports in the past few days from people that are not on 7.0.15 gong back as far as .03. BBT is only supported on the latest version of Zotero.
