2037665537 In-text citation formatting error for APA-7th

Kia ora,

Have found a bug where if an authors name has a letter with a macron (for example, é) the in-text reference format is incorrect. Instead of following (lastname, et al., year), it will include multiple authors, or initials as well.

Have found that replacing the letter with a standard letter and refreshing removes this problem, however, I feel it is disrespectful to not correctly spell the authors name (including correct symbols).

Is there any fix for this?

Thanks
  • You're just seeing given name disambiguation, which is correct for APA.

All instances of the name that you cite have to be the same (i.e., accent or no accent). It's also possible that you just have different variations of the same accented character — accented characters can be represented various ways, and we might not be accounting for that in the disambiguation process.

If you can reproduce this with newly saved items in a new document, provide exact Steps to Reproduce — e.g., saving from two specific URLs, citing them in a new, empty document, and getting first initials.
  • Ah right, thanks!
