Not being able to add PDFs

Hello, I run zotero on an M1 Macbook, and I am not being able to link, add PDFs thorugh any method - restricting use of any annotation or reading features

The drag and drop and web connector feature is not working either, I have tried changing database locations and also gone through all file permissions - allowing read and write for every user
