Style request: The Accounting Review

1) Similar Style: Chicago Manual of Style (Author-date-format)

2) Differences from Chicago Manual of Style:

- Arrange citations in alphabetical order according to the SURNAME of the first author or the name of the institution or body responsible for the published work.
- USE AUTHORS' INITIALS INSTEAD OF PROPER NAMES.
-reference to three authors with et al., e.g.: (Kachelmeier et al. 2008)
- Unless confusion would result, do not use ‘‘p.’’ or ‘‘pp.’’ before page numbers.

Thank you for helping me out!
  • you posted the original request one day ago... have a little patience... and please don't double post - if you want to remind people of a post (which is appropriate after about a week unless you're experiencing a major bug/disaster) - just add another post to your original one.
  • I'm sorry,
i'm new here and when I found out that my original post didn't have the required formulation for a style request, I reposted.
  • Hi, could someone maybe help me out with this style? I need it urgently for my masterpaper. Else I would have to type over all my references...

    thanks!
  • go here:
    http://gist.github.com/379598
download by right-clicking on "Raw" at the top right and selecting save as.
Drag the downloaded file - accounting-review.csl - to an open FF window - OK when Firefox prompts you about the install.
I implemented the changes you outline above, if there is more let me know.
  • Thank you very much, it seems to work just fine!

  • Dear Adam,

could you maybe help me out one last time:
w.r.t. the 'The Accounting Review' style sheet you have sent me (http://gist.github.com/379598), would it be possible to add the following three requirements:

    1) now a date occurs not only behind the author's name, but also between brackets behind the 'publication' and 'volume' (between brackets. As in the example below: '(April)'. I would like this date not to occur.
    2) Moreover, for some papers, information on 'doi' is given. As in the example below: 'doi:doi: DOI:10.1016/j.enpol.2009.01.041'. I would like to have this removed too. (it is less important than the first remark, however)
    3) Sometimes an URL is also added to a reference. Could this be removed too?

    Example:
Greene, D. L. 2010. Measuring energy security: Can the United States achieve oil independence? Energy Policy 38 (4) (April): 1614-1621. doi:doi: DOI: 10.1016/j.enpol.2009.01.041.

    Thank you very much!!

    Kind regards,

    Joris
  • so no URL is used ever?
  • no, at least, not when referring to books, papers or articles. In case of websites urls probably are referred to, but I don't need to refer to websites.

    thanks!
  • Dear Adam,

i do not mean to be impatient, but do you think that could help me out with these changes before wednesday? I have to hand in my paper thursday. If you don't have the time, I could still remove these items manually in my bibliography of course, so it would not be disastrous.

    Kind regards,

    Joris
  • sorry, I'm on the road atm - I'll try but chances are I won't get to it before the weekend.
  • Hi - I've done a quick and untested fix on the style at github - should work, but no guarantees - if things go haywire, you can still download the old style using the "Revisions" on the right side.
  • Joris - did you ever try the new style - does it work? I'd want to upload it to the repository
  • OK, the updated style is now on the new csl 1.0 repository at https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles and will eventually move to citationstyles.org
