PDF source: Find Full Text v.s. Automatically attach associated PDFs

edited yesterday at 2:19pm
Hi,

I'm on campus with IP-based authorization. I tried 4 ways to attach PDFs and they seem to be using different sources of PDFs:

1) click "Find Full Text" in Zotero, which was known as "Find Available PDF" in older Zotero versions

2) enable "automatically attach associated PDFs" in both Zotero and Zotero Connector, then add items from the website of a collection of papers by clicking the connector (folder icon).

3) enable "automatically attach associated PDFs" in both Zotero and Zotero Connector, then add items by importing DOIs to Zotero.

4) enable "automatically attach associated PDFs" in both Zotero and Zotero Connector, then add items from the website a single paper by clicking the connector (file icon).

2) and 3) appear to use the same source of PDFs (OA PDFs). Only 1) and 4) uses the PDF from my IP-based subscription.

My question is, **is it possible to associate PDFs from my IP-based subscription through 2) and 3)**?

I read an older thread about PDF sources but still confused about my specific question

Thanks!
  • You should actually be most likely to get the publisher version of the PDF with 2) -- if you let use know about a URL where you don't, we can take a look.

(I thought 1 and 3 would be identical, but I'm not certain)
  • You are correct! I didn't make myself clear. I modified the original post by differentiating the website of collection v.s. single paper. Clicking on the single paper's website gets the publisher version of the PDF.

Here is an example URL of the paper collection.
