Feature Request: Prompt for Item Type Selection when Merging Different Types

I'm experiencing a frustrating workflow issue when working with annually published yearbooks like "Jahrbuch erziehungswissenschaftliche Geschlechterforschung" published by Budrich.
URL: https://www.budrich-journals.de/index.php/fgfe/issue/view/3151

Current Problem:
When importing citation data for the same publication through different methods, Zotero assigns inconsistent item types:

Batch import via publisher website → imports as Journal Articles
Individual imports via DOI → imports as Book Chapters

When I try to merge these items (which are actually the same content), Zotero prevents the merge due to different item types without offering an option to choose which type should be used.

Current Workaround:
I must manually change all items to the same type first (e.g., convert all Journal Articles to Book Chapters) before merging, which is time-consuming.

Suggested Solution:
When attempting to merge items of different types, Zotero could prompt the user to select which item type should be used for the merged result, rather than simply refusing to merge.

Has anyone else encountered this issue or found a better workaround? Would the developers ( @dstilman ) consider implementing such a feature? Some form of batch merge would be even better for the described problem.
