Upgrade StorageFeature Request: Connecting citations to items in library.
I am an environmental climate/soil researcher and have been a beta user and Zotero zealot for the better part of a decade.
I am really enjoying reading and highlighting PDFs in Zotero, and I love the hover feature for sources allowing you to see the full citation in the reference list. However I find myself frequently hopping in and out of PDFs to check whether I've already added the source to the library. I feel the logical next evolution of this feature would be automatically checking if the item already exists in the library. It seems that this might be a more complex feature, but I believe that it would be open up a lot of opportunities for building future research features, such as:
- adding an "open PDF"-option when right clicking a source
- different colors for links that are already in the library, smoothing out workflows
- linking together different sources in meta data
- showing networks of different sources akin to research rabbit or similar
- showing local "importance" for papers in a library based on frequency of citations
