Folder organization
Good morning, I am using a shared library on Zotero. There is a main folder from which three subfolders, duplicated items, unfiled items, and the trash derive. I don't understand why the total number of works in the main folder does not match the sum of the works in the three subfolders + duplicated items + unfiled items + trash. Do you know why? Thanks!
1. What you call "subfolder", I assume you are referring to collections. [I recognize that it is a bit confusing that their icons are like those of the folders in an operating system, but they aren't]. All the items in the main Library are *all* the items you own. To make the work easier, you can assign a single item to several collections or sub-collections (or it may not be included in any collection, it is up to you, see the “Unfilled”). As explained in the documentation, it can be something closer to a playlist of songs, but never to the files distributed in folders of an operating system.
For example, if you have an item that deals with laws in the Roman Empire. That item can belong to a collection about “Laws” and at the same time to another collection about “Rome”. Or to none at all...
2. “Unfilled” are those items that you have not assigned to any collection.
3. “Duplicates” are items that are repeated in your library, whether or not you have assigned any of them to a collection.
3. “Trash” are items that you have deleted, and they *are not included* in the main Library. If you recover them, then they will go back to the Library, but they are there until you delete them permanently or recover any of them from an accidental deletion.
In short, that calculation you make is not correct.
For more details, you can read the documentation about this matter here:

P.S.: If you have an item in a collection, and you remove it from that collection, that item will remain in your Library, unless you move it to the Bin.
