Each input box has a maximum width, and when it exceeds that width, its text is ellipsized: overflowing characters are chopped off and "…," is added to the last name, "…" to the first name. In many cases, though, there isn't a perfect fit: If the text is "Abcdef", "Abcd…," would overflow the field, and "Abc…," wouldn't quite fill the field, the ellipsizing algorithm will go with "Abc…,", leaving a bit of extra space at the end. Ideally we could reduce the width of the field so it's flush with the ellipsis, but there's no way for our code to know where the ellipsizing algorithm decided to break the text.

The alternatives, as you've seen, are to have space before the ellipsis or between the ellipsis and the comma, and both of those are incorrect in English typography and just look weird. A varying amount of space after the comma, where there already is a space, is by far the least weird-looking option IMO.

We'll look into estimating the position of the ellipsis in order to reduce the extra space, but I can't promise that any significant improvement is possible.

I understand that there will still be a fractional space depending on how many letters would fit. But, as you resize the right side pane, that space should go to zero at some point, which does not seem to be the case at the moment.

There is a box around the last name.
When there is no ellipsis, the comma is placed in the round part of the box:

But when there is an ellipsis, the comma is placed as a normal letter:

As I understand, the comma should not count in the number of letters to remove to put the ellipsis, because it should appear in the round part where there is no letter.
