Error connecting to server. Check your Internet connection. How to solve this ?

I suddenly get this error when synching the database. I did not change any computer settings. proxy settings are at 5, changing that number did not help. Closing the firewall made no change. No changes were made in the security settings.
All worked very well until about 2 weeks ago. Since then I installed a Windows update and ran a cc-cleaner run.
All other internet connections run smoothly. I do not use VPN.

How to solve this ?
  • Restart your computer.

    If that doesn't help, restart using the Help → Debug Output Logging → "Restart with Logging Enabled…" option, copy the output (assuming you can't submit it and provide a Debug ID), and send the output to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.
