Blank documents work ok in some cases...

You’ll need to follow the troubleshooting steps linked from there, particularly the last step, which will isolate the part of the document/template that’s causing a problem. As it says, if you can isolate a problem, you can email it to us for further investigation, though we’ll respond here.

Also, you’ll need to be more specific. A blank document should work in all cases, not some cases, so if there are specific steps to trigger a problem, you’ll need to provide exact steps to reproduce.

I followed these instructions to no success (several times - today and in the past).
Blank documents do work ok when insterting a first citation.
Right now I can't do any further investigations as per the screenshot (this error is persistent even after restarting)...

The template I have to use used to work in the past. Issues started with Word 365.
Word document is stored locally and file name does not contain spaces.

Is there anything I can provide (and have access to) to find a solution?

edit: the order of adding citations does not matter! I tried to start from a fresh template two times and ended up with the same crashes...
  • As of now the corrupted word-documents don't even open to investigate further - the joys of free and open source I guess - 3 days of hard work gone in seconds...

If you'd like help here, please skip the snarky comments.

We're happy to help you, but you seem to be fundamentally misunderstanding how all of this works (including your multiple posts and email asking where your forum posts were, despite the clear message saying that comments from first-time posters are moderated).

If you can't even open a document, that's a Word problem and has nothing to do with Zotero. You'd have to say more what exactly you mean by that.

There's no way for the troubleshooting steps not to work. As it says, unless you can empty the document completely and still reproduce the problem, they will by definition isolate the problematic section of the document. The page also explains exactly what you can provide via email if you want us to investigate further, and I linked to instructions for how to provide precise steps to reproduce a problem. If you'd like our help, you'll need to follow the instructions we provide and provide the information we ask for. If there's something specific you don't understand, ask a more specific question.

Did some further investigations: Word has been zombified when Zotero chrashed several times. This is what caused Word to not open before rebooting Windows.
As of now I'm happily using my template again.
