Podcasts. Are all these items being fixed?

There are some sections missing from Podcast item type. This is the current output for a single episode based on the available fields, which you can see from the photo what I’ve filled in my example:

Host, I. M. (n.d.). Name of podcast [Audio podcast]. https://www.productioncompany.org/podcasts/nameofpodcast

Host, I. M. (n.d.). Name of episode: Sentence case (No. 4) [Audio podcast episode]. https://www.productioncompany.org/podcasts/nameofpodcast/episodes/4/nameofepisode

As you can see, this is an incomplete citation regardless of whether it’s a podcast or an episode of a podcast. If the intention is to make it output a series reference only, maybe a podcast episode option could be added (like book v. book section). Or it should change the output style based on the fields included (e.g., if series title is included, it should not italicise the episode title). Here are some issues:

1) Author - Should include options for "Host" (which should pluralise if there are two or more hosts) and Executive Producer and/or Producer since they can be the author if known; however, it's usually the host in examples.

a. Also, it neglected to enter the role after the name, e.g., Host, I. M. (Host), when “podcaster” is selected. When “contributor” is selected, it removes the author altogether and puts the title first. When “Guest” is selected, it adds a field correctly.

2) Date field - Podcasts have a date range for whole series or single date for single episode. The bibliographic output has a date field (n.d.), but there's no date field in the podcast template.

3) Title – This field is either the name of the podcast in sentence case and italicised OR the name of the episode in sentence case NOT italicised. It currently only outputs an italicised title that is sentence or title case based on what is input manually or from the source. I think some have requested automatic case changes based on content type. Is that possible?

4) Series Title field – It exists, but it doesn’t output in the reference. If one wants to cite a whole podcast, it would be left blank, which should trigger the title to be italicised. But if it’s filled, title should be regular and series title should be italicised. It should be preceded in the output by “In”.

5) Episode number field – This one works correctly.

6) File Type – Also works correctly, but requires that the user input format i.e., for series - Audio podcast. For episode - Video podcast episode. Would it be more effective to have a drop-down list of options?

7) Running time is included in the fields, but according to APA, that info doesn’t seem necessary.

8) Production Company field – There isn’t a field for this, but the production company should be included. It isn’t italicised for series or episodes.

9) Case formatting – It looks like APA 7 formats the episode and series titles in sentence case. I think it follows Book and Book Section formatting for the most part, although all the examples at APA.org and Purdue OWL are too short to tell. The content following the date is definitely sentence case. The content following the [format type] looks like sentence case but might be title case. Production company should, I think, be title case because it’s a name of something; but no examples make this clear.

Here's an example of what the outputs should look like based on https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/references/examples/podcast-references :

Whole series:
Host, I. M. (Host). (2016–2019). Italic name of podcast: Sentence case [ podcast]. Not Italic Production Company. https://www.productioncompany.org/podcasts/nameofpodcast (if URL exists)

Single episode:
Host, I. M., & Amtoo, I. (Hosts). (2021, June 18). Name of episode: Sentence case (No. #) [ podcast episode]. In Sentence case italic name of podcast. Not Italic Production Company. https://www.productioncompany.org/podcasts/nameofpodcast/episodes/#/nameofepisode
