I used Zetore without logging in to my account, then restarted my MacBook. All my documents were gone, but the local files were still there.

That definitely didn't happen just restarting your computer, but you may have ran something to try to clear disk space and accidentally deleted the Zotero database and its backups. If there are actually subfolders in 'storage', as explained on Locating Missing Zotero Data, that's the most likely cause.

If you weren't using syncing, your only option would be to restore from a backup you made (e.g., with Time Machine).
