Offline install of Edge or Chrome Zotero Connector

We have a user whose network is not connected to the internet, thus they cannot use the Microsoft or Google stores to install the Zotero connector.

Is there any way to do this? We can with Firefox but they do not want to use it.
  • Well, why? If they're not on the internet, what would they be using the Zotero Connector for to begin with? Saving pages on an intranet?

In any case, it's not really a question for us. The Chrome and Edge extensions are distributed from their respective stores like all other public extensions. Google and Microsoft provide documentation for enterprises to force or allow installations in other ways, but that doesn't have anything to do with Zotero specifically and isn't something we can help with. (For a totally offline install, you'd probably need to extract the .crx from the store and either configure a group policy or put the user in developer mode, but it's not a particularly good idea, since they would never get updates.)

Yes, they use it to save information from an extremely large group of intranet sites.

As to updates, they manage those as well - they never take automatic updates.

Its a very different environment than the usual corporate or academic one.

I was thinking our backup approach would be what you suggest so we'll look into that.

    Thank you.

btw, we have many extremely avid users of Zotero, including a internal blog for users/fans.
