Security problem with Zotero connectors on municipalities computers?

Here in Norway, many municipalities have suddenly prevented teachers and all other employees from loading the Zotero connector on the municipally operated PCs. What could be the reason for this? What security problems could arise?

All browser extensions carry potential security risks, but Zotero Connector is not exceptional in that regard. Perhaps all browser extensions have been disabled? You should ask your IT why Zotero Connector is not allowed.

You would have to ask your IT department, yes, but to be clear, the primary security risk with a browser extension is from it being either created by or sold to a malicious developer. That's not the case and never going to be the case with Zotero:
