Some letters are substituted with a square in reader

I have found that, for some documents, the reader modifies some symbols and letters with a square. Here I show some examples:

In this document, all combinations of "fi" are drawn as squares, and the same is true for the symbol "-".

In previous Zotero versions, the same document was displayed correctly. However, the problem is not consistent across all documents.

My current Zotero version is: 7.0.11 (64-bit), Windows 11.

Can you give some links to PDF files where you see the problem?
It is probably a problem of missing fonts:

The file seems perfect when opening with other readers such as Adobe Acrobat. It appears that the problem is the same as the discussion you mentioned. What confuses me is that I have opened this same .pdf with the built-in Zotero reader with previous versions, and I never had this problem before.

@DavidFF I can't reproduce this on Windows 11. However, you can try sending the exact file from your library so we can investigate whether there's an issue with that file.

I still can't reproduce the issue on Windows 11. Maybe someone else on Windows can try the file from the link.

I just tried it, and couldn't reproduce it either. That said, in the thread I've linked here, (https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/485342), someone with a different font problem mentioned that updating their graphics drivers fixed things.

Alternatively, have you tried running Zotero in troubleshooting mode to see if it persists then?
