Broken merge items

The merge items functionality from the Duplicate Items collection does not let me choose the master item anymore:

Or if I go back to My Library and then again to Duplicate Items, the items to select do not change when changing items:

I do not get any error from the Debug Output:

Is it a general problem or related to my library?

I do not understand what is happening.
I have merged all the recently added duplicates yesterday. Then, this morning, it seemed to work fine, as I could not reproduce the problem. But then, adding more duplicates and merging several of them, I got some other problems again:

I have selected only 2 items in My Library, but I can choose between 3 items in the item pane. The 3 items are the ones that were identified as duplicates from the Duplicate Items collection.

It seems that something is not being refreshed properly?
Any clue on what can be the origin of the problem and how to reproduce reliably?

Ok, I have finally tracked down the problem:
The list of duplicates to choose from does not update if the metadata of the items to merge is exactly the same.

So here are the steps to reproduce:
1) Create an item with title "This is a test item"
2) Make a duplicate
3) Go to the Duplicate Items collection
4) Select a set of duplicates with small differences
5) Select the test duplicates that were just created
-> The list of items to choose from does not update
