Switch to a different word processor problem

I recently ran into a problem trying to switch a document from Microsoft Word to Google Docs in Chrome, using this documentation page: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/moving_documents_between_word_processors
(BTW, #5 in Word to Google Docs on that page is extraneous: if you open a file in a Google Doc, it's already a Google Doc, not .docx.)

Everything worked until the last step, using "refresh" to refresh the document in Google Docs: nothing happened.

I tried a number of different suggested options I found in forums. None worked. Finally, because why not, I removed the Chrome connector and reinstalled it, in spite of knowing I had recently updated the chrome connector when I updated to zotero 7.

But it worked. I can confirm that this also worked today for another person switching from MS Word to Google Docs in Chrome using zotero 6: no response to "refresh," then removed and reinstalled the connector, and it worked.

Don't know why, don't know how, but if you're having trouble with switching from MS Word to Google Docs in Chrome, try removing and reinstalling the connector before you give up.

Google Docs used to open uploaded .docx files in a separate mode in which Zotero didn't work, but I guess they now convert them automatically. I've removed that line — thanks.

It's very unlikely that this was necessary — there's no permanent state in the extension related to Google Docs — and this erases any stored settings (e.g., proxy settings). Just refreshing Google Docs or restarting Zotero and/or your browser fixes most cases of things getting stuck.
