Math fonts remain dark in IEEE Transactions with dark theme

I have many PDFs (so far all various IEEE Transactions papers) where the math fonts remain dark when using the new dark theme. This is using version 7.1-beta.10+7256072c5 (64-bit) on Linux.

If I revert to version 7.1-beta.8+2afbe030d (64-bit) and enable "Use Dark Mode for Content", it looks like

IEEE papers use low-resolution raster images instead of vector graphics for formulas, but we made some changes to work around this issue.
