Keep notes panel open when browsing articles

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've used Zotero, and I've been very pleasantly surprised with the new updates! I'm loving the new features so far.

When you're browsing through articles in the center panel (using the down arrow key, for example), is there any way to keep the notes panel open on the right-hand panel? Right now, switching to a new article resets the right-hand panel to the "info" section that contains the metadata. However, this metadata isn't usually as relevant to me as my own short summary of what the article is about, so it would be really convenient if the right-hand panel can be pinned to the "notes" section.

I believe this was possible in version 5 or 6, which had had a slightly different right-hand panel in which the tabs were on top of the panel and listed horizontally. Before, if I switched to the notes tab for one article, the notes tab would remain open when I switched to a second article, allowing me to directly see my notes for the second article without any additional clicks or scrolling. Is this feature sill available in version 7? I could also see this being useful for pinning the "abstract" tab open, for example.

Would it also be possible if the right-hand panel could show more than just the first paragraph of a note and also maintain the rich text format? Right now, the note preview in the right-hand panel is missing the text formatting I've done like italics or highlights. Keeping the formatting visible in the preview would be really helpful.

Thanks!
  • Double-click on the Notes icon or right-click → Pin Section. You can also collapse any of the sections you don't use regularly.
