Lost pdf's but highlights still available - any way to redownload and sync?

Hi I am looking for any way to sync a RE-downloaded file with the highlights that are still viewable.

I recently had my laptop reset and only the files that were stored in the desktop version before my storage was full were saved as pdfs. I lost all my pdfs in the reset of the laptop but luckily my highlights are still able to view. I have tried to locate the files on my laptop but the folders are empty.

Is there any way of redownloading the pdf and it syncing with the highlights that are still viewable?

Yes, you were at your Zotero storage quota, so only the 300 MB of files that had actually been uploaded to our servers would be available. (You've now upgraded your storage, but that doesn't help with files that were never uploaded before.)

For the rest, you would need to manually redownload the files (e.g., by clicking through to the publisher website and saving the file). You can then use the Locate button in the file-not-found dialog on the file in your downloads folder, and Zotero will automatically copy it into the data directory in the correct location. You can then delete the downloaded file.

(And note that you'll of course need the same version of the file. If there's an extra header page or something like that, the highlights might not line up.)
