Error When Invited Users Attempt to Join Group (Membership Not Updating)

## Problem Description:

I am the owner of a private Zotero group and have invited colleagues to join. When they clicked the invitation link, they first signed up for Zotero and then clicked Join. However, after doing so, they reported receiving the following messages:

- "You are now a member of this group" (green success message)
- "There was an error loading the updated group information" (red error message)
- "There was a problem joining this group"

Despite clicking Join, the invited users are not appearing in the current members list, and they have disappeared from the Pending Invitations list.

## Steps Taken to Debug

To troubleshoot, I tried reproducing the issue:

- Sent an invitation to a second email address.
- Used a different browser to accept the invite.
- Reloaded page, cleared cache, deleted cookies.
- Re-invited users after removing old invitations.

The issue persists.

## Group Settings

- The group is private.
- Library access is restricted to group members.
- Library and file editing permissions are set to allow all group members (see attached screenshot).

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any guidance on how to resolve it?
