RSS issue with PubMed

If I add a feed from a simple PubMed search query (e.g. ((orthopaedics) OR (orthopedics)), then the feed shows results in Zotero 7. If I make a longer query ((orthopaedics) OR (orthopedics)) AND ((deep learning) OR (CNN)) then Zotero adds the feed but shows no results.

Simple:

Complex:

I've tried disabling all my plugins and restarting Zotero (which worked for someone else on the forum for a similar problem). That didn't work.

Then I thought that while the URL isn't wildly different, maybe the long feed name caused a weird hiccup. I renamed the feed name with no luck.

Both feeds work in other RSS readers. I'm not sure what else to try.

Zotero 7.0.11 on OSX 14.5
  • Could anyone confirm if the same happens for them on the complex search query? It
should only take a moment, and I'd appreciate it.

I can't reproduce any issue with either feed. Could you remove the complex feed, enable debug logging, add the complex feed again, then submit the debug output and paste the Debug ID here?
  • The debug ID is: D132400656
  • There's nothing obviously wrong in that debug log. It looks like Zotero is fetching the feed items successfully.

Try Help -> Restart in Troubleshooting Mode, which restarts with all plugins disabled. If that fixes it, you'll need to identify which plugin is causing the issue and report that to the developer.
  • Figured it out. I had inserted the complex feed, but all the papers in it were already being pulled by a series of feeds from simple queries.
  • It's great to know that the feeds don't duplicate papers across each other, It's nice attention to detail by the developers.

Also great to see the debug logs are fairly understandable.
  • I don't think it's actually optimal behavior, but yes, that's how it currently works. I think it would be more correct to show all entries in each feed but share the read state between feeds.
