Disable "Automatic Tags" from browser library

My students prefer to use access their zotero libraries through the online interface at zotero.org. Is there a way to disable automatic tags? All I can find is instructions to uncheck the box in the General pane of Preferences (in the stand-alone app).

    It's possible to hide the automatic tags from the three-dots menu next to the tag selector, but it's not currently possible to specify whether automatic tags should be created when saving directly to the web library.
