Accessing Zotero from a different laptop
Hello, I am having some issues with accessing Zotero to another laptop. I have the user data, i.e. "storage" and "zotero.sqlite" files. But when I downloaded and installed Zotero version 6 (as my old laptop had version 6) in the new laptop and tried to run the software, image 1 window popped up. Now after installing the newer version of Zotero, image 2 showed up. Note that, it is not possible for me to export the data from my previous laptop, and I also don't have online sync. Is there any solution to this?

dstillmanThat means what it says. You need to fix the permissions on the files you copied from the other computer.

Sakib_AhmedThe other laptop was basically crashed and is now in for repair. After it crashed, it was not allowing me to use any other software including Zotero. I only copied the user files from that laptop. So there is no other way to unlock the files from other laptop/pc?

dstillmanThis is about the files you already copied. You need to fix the permissions so your current OS user account can read and write to them. We can't provide general OS guidance here, but this is just a basic permissions problem with the files that you can fix in File Explorer.

Sakib_AhmedThe read and write permissions are already given, still same issue.

dstillmanIf you're getting that message, Zotero still can't read or write to the file. That's all we can tell you. This isn't a problem in Zotero itself. You'll need to fix whatever permissions are wrong (e.g., on the folder itself).
