[resolved] Citations are transformed into text when I restart NeoOffice

Hi there,

I inserting citations into a doc file under NeoOffice without any problems, but when I close and restart NeoOffice those citations become only simple text.

Let me give you the history of my configuration, I'm on a mac under Leopard and I used zotero 1.0 with word 2004 for years (at least one) without any problems (except the fact that it is not possible to have more than 200 citations). When I upgraded Firefox (3.5->3.6) and thus to Zotero 2.0 I wasn't able to insert any citations in word anymore with a error message like "This plugin version 1.03b is not compatible with Zotero 2.0" even though I have the Zotero MacWord integration 3.0b2. After few research I gave up and I thought to switch to a "good" (= open source) text editor thus NeoOffice because it is supposed to be better integrated in Mac OSX. It took a day to work properly (I guess because I had OpenOffice installed in the same time) and after deinstalling everything and restart from scratch everything is fine, except the fact that I cant close the document :°/

I hope this wasn't too boring and that it can give you guys some ideas.
Thanks very much in advance if you can help me on that, it starts to take me too much working time...

  • are you saving as a .doc? That will not save reference marks, thus the citations will be lost
  • That was the solution, it seems to be a pretty basic
requirement but I didn't see such recommendation.

    Thank you very much,
  • in the small print under "Reference Marks" (in the Document Settings, which automatically open when you insert the first citation) - it says "Document has to be saved in .odt format". It might be that this dialogue never opened for you in NeoOffice because you "moved" from Word.
You can still save in .doc if you use Bookmarks, but that's not recommended and, if I recall correctly, will not allow you to use Footnote/Endnote styles.
