Zetero Firefox plugin stuck at Downloading and verirfying stage

I am a fist time Zotero user. Every time I try to install the Firefox connector I see the browser tab not progressing beyond download and verifying stage. No data gets downloaded. I have made sure my Firefox version is up to date. In addition, I cleared the cache. I have reset the browser a few times. At one point also reset the computer. Still no success. Desktop app was installed OK

    It's a standard Firefox extension, so there's some problem with either your Firefox installation or your connection to Amazon cloud servers.

    If you're having trouble, you can right-click and save the XPI from another browser and drag it into Firefox or, if even that doesn't work, try from another network (or have someone on a different network download the XPI and send you the file).
