Sync Problem - "Settings failed with status code 400:

edited January 18, 2025
I had maxed out storage, so I deleted a lot of files. Sync did not restart. I deleted online library and tried to sync from my laptop. Always ends with this:

[JavaScript Error: "HTTP POST https://api.zotero.org/users/(myaccount#)/settings failed with status code 400:

Decimal value must be between 0 and 100"]

Report #1454821232
Zotero 7.011

(I've seen similar reports, but the advice given does not work for me.)
  • I also tried turning full-text content syncing off and that made no difference.
  • New set of errors posting in this report: 1909438342
  • In your library root, paste 4G9MHHXL into the search bar in All Fields & Tags mode. An attachment should show up. Is there anything unusual about the pagination of that file?

If you then open it up and try scrolling around or switching pages, there's a chance that might fix this.
  • @millervincentj: We've gone ahead and corrected for this on the server side, so it should no longer fail.
  • Thank you. That document was a pdf export of a webpage - so one extremely long page. (I had removed some others that were surprisingly large.)

When I removed it, sync began. But now it is not completing and not syncing full-text content either. No error codes produced.
  • What do you mean by "not syncing full-text content"?

In general, see Changes Not Syncing, which also explain what we'd need to say more.

    Thank you.

"not syncing full-text content" = not syncing pdfs, notes, attachments. I have this option checked in the syncing settings page.

It is syncing the bibliographic entries, but none of the additional data. It is all available on my MacBook, but not online, nor does it sync to iPhone. My online account shows 3.6 MB / 2000 MB used.

I read the linked page, and ran a startup debug log: D126707749

  • I reset File Sync History and that solved the problem.
    Thank you for the help.
  • OK, to be clear, "Sync full-text content" isn't about syncing files, so referring to "syncing full-text content" here when you mean files will confuse people. That's "file syncing".
