No, you need the Desktop app for google docs integration.

Follow up question, is the desktop version of Zotero needed for all word processing integrations including MS Word?

all official ones, yes. There are some 3rd party integrations (Overleaf is the one I'm aware of, there may be others) that work with the online version.
