Trash folder emptied on its own

The files in my trash folder dissapeared, does Zotero do an automatic periodic deletion of the trash folder? And would it be possible to recover the files that I had in the trash folder and got deleted? Thank you very much in advance!

    It auto-empties items in your personal library trash after 30 days, yes. This is configurable in the settings.

    If this just happened, you might be able to restore them from one of the automatic backups. (Increase the auto-empty setting before trying.)
