Search results display list view

Hi
Why is it that when Zotero displays the search results, it (1) shows all the items in the library, with the non-relevant items ghosted out and (2) shows the attachments - even tho' the View setting is to not show the sub-collection.
V frustrating, especially as before you'd just get a short list with the relevant items.
Thanks

It doesn't show all items in the library. It shows context rows — child and parent items of matching items — in gray. Otherwise if a search matched, say, a child note, there wouldn't be any indication of its parent item.

If you're trying to match only parent items, you can use Title, Creator, Year mode, which only matches parent items, or if you're searching on all fields, click in the list and press - (minus) to collapse all items. In an advanced search, you can choose to match only top-level items.

I don't know what you mean by "before". Zotero has always worked this way.

(The View → Show Items from Subcollections setting doesn't have anything to do with attachments.)

Thanks for responding. I've worked it out yaay.
That was really helpful pointing out it doesn't show all the items and I should select Title, Creator, Year mode. Turns out I had the "everything" selected in the search box. Now have returned it to Title, Creator, Year mode. Didn't realise I could change it - for anyone reading this, left click on the down arrow next to the search box to see the options.
    Thanks again!
