Import from CITAVI

Hey guys,

I'm trying to change from Citavi for Zotero, but when I try to import my project according to the documentation from Zotero (https://docs.zotero-fr.org/kb/import_from_citavi/), it says that the files could not be synchronised with Zotero (here the snapshot in French). Any idea what I can do?
For information, I have citavi 6.19 and Zotero 7. I have PDF attachements in my citavi-project files.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not sure what your question is? That's the settings pane for the import. It's just explaining that if you choose linked files instead of stored files, those files won't be synced by Zotero.

  • Thanks for your comment. That's what I thought first, but when I proceed with the import it doesn't import anything. Not a single book or article...
  • OK, that's the relevant info, then, not the options pane.

What exactly happens? Do you get an error message, or does it just finish without importing anything?

Usually problems importing from Citavi are just a case of not following the instructions precisely, so you should try again. If you're still having trouble, provide a Debug ID for an import that doesn't work.
  • I tried to run the import one more time and it says that no document could be imported. I got Debug ID D1085227781. It says it's not valid Mendeley database, but I chose to import from a file...
  • Yeah, that means you're not importing the right kind of file. If you tell us, in your own words, what exactly you're doing, step by step, we might be able to tell you where something is going astray, but if you follow the official steps precisely this really should work.
  • (Your debug output also doesn't show an import attempt. You'd have to follow those steps precisely as well.)
  • I've started the whole process once again, following the same instrutions. This time it worked, so I guess I must have done smoething wrong the first couple times. Anyway, thanks for your time and your help!
