Transitioning a document from EndNote to Zotero

I have changed my word plug-in from EndNote to Zotero and am attempting to update the citation format in my document via the Zotero plug-in (changed due to ending of free trial with EndNote). When I select the citation style I would like (superscript for Annals formatting as opposed to parentheses prior formatting for alternative journal), nothing changes in my document. Is there a way to re-format my citation style in this case? I am afraid I have made a major mistake and will need to start from scratch with all citations in this paper.

    EndNote citations in a document cannot be changed to Zotero citations.
