Zotero profile that contains only a group library: is this possible?
This is the closest that I've come to finding an answer to my question, but it seems to address a slightly different problem than the one that I have: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/117594/only-sync-group-libraries .
I've exported a bunch of subcollections from my main Zotero profile. I imported these to a new profile, created a Zotero account for that profile and then synced the collection in that profile with the Zotero account. Following this, I set up a group library in the Zotero account to which the new profile was attached and then copied the imported subcollections to that group library.
The reason that I activated sync, was that I thought that I had to to move the subcollections to the group library. It now occurs to me that this may not have been the case. Which leads to my first question: can I in the future set up a group library without syncing my main library to the Net?
My second question is this: I now have no further need in the new profile for the original subcollections that I imported in to it. (I need them in their original profile, but that's a different story, I think.) Since they have all been copied to the group library, is there some way for me to delete the My Library in the new profile? If not, I suppose it would be okay if I deleted all the subcollections it contains, without, of course, permanently deleting their contents (i.e., by using delete not shift+delete). From what I read in the post that I cited above, it seems clear that I can't pick and choose which collection(s) to sync, but that will be okay, since the My Library collection will have been either deleted or emptied. Am I right in believing that this is safe to do?
Thanks for any help that you can give!

I'm not sure I understand your second question. Once you copy data between libraries, deleting data in the original library has no effect on the former.
