Frozen 'Attachment Info' image in Zotero 7.0.6

Hello,

I am running Zotero 7.0.6 on Sonoma 14.6.1 on a MacBook Pro (with BetterNotes plugin).

Here is a link to a screen recording to accompany the below explanation of the issue: https://youtu.be/uIJKmLMOvMA - timings are referred to in square brackets.

When I browse through multiple attachments (in this case photographs attached as linked files, which live on Google Drive) associated with an item, the "Attachment Info" panel updates to show me a preview of each image, and updated filename below it [0:20]. However, after a while the image will remain stuck on that of a previous attachment [0:46]. I am able to continue to select different attachments, but the image will not update. In some cases the displayed filename also does not update. Zotero itself hasn't frozen - I am able to navigate around the application and perform other functions. Even the attachments to different items show up with the same frozen image [1:00]. If I select an item itself (rather than one of the associated attachments), the correct image for the first attachment in the list is displayed as usual [1:01-1:06]. The issue is resolved (i.e. the specific frozen attachment image is no longer frozen) when I restart Zotero [1:46], but it recurs when I repeat the actions, although perhaps with a different frozen image [2:00]. Although the images live on Google Drive, internet connectivity is good and none are showing as unavailable.

Thank you,
Alex
  • You're running a version of Zotero from September. You should install the latest version from the download page and figure out why you haven't received automatic updates in several months.

If it still happens, restart in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”), which temporarily disables all plugins. If that fixes it, you'll need to identify the plugin that's causing it and then report the problem to the plugin's developer.
  • Thank you for alerting me to the fact that I wasn't running the latest version.

However, having sorted that (via "Check for Updates" and installing 7.0.11) and disabled plugins via Troubleshooting Mode, the issue persists.
