@khuynen I think I face the exact same problem: Zotero crashes when I want to input citations to a paragraph that contains equations. (Windows 10, Zotero 7.0.9)
I think it actually only happens after an inline equation is split on two lines (because it's too long to fit in the current line). Avoiding line breaks in inline equations seems to fix the problem (I tried a couple of things but didn't test extensively).
This error is very insidious as the crash can happen because of an equation that is tens of lines above the spot where you want to input the reference. Also, it won't break the entire document, as inserting a reference after a subsequent/previous paragraph that contains no equation seems to continue working.
It would be great if you could provide feedback @khuynen: does this fix it for you too?
If someone wants to verify what I seem to have found by conducting extensive tests, they are most welcome to do so (I most likely won't do it). I think it would be valuable as this looks like an actual bug.
I think @Myoe misunderstood the thread and is referring to an issue in Word. I've moved this to a new thread. @Myoe, you'll need to say more clearly what you're trying to report here.

I avoid equations linebreaks either by making the equation on a newline to itself OR by converting it to plain text following instructions there: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/how-do-i-keep-the-whole-inline-equation-together/ef40736b-57ba-41c6-a020-f729c514a4cb

I'm not sure to understand exactly your situation, do you work in zotero notes ? What is the point with the MS discussion you refer to ?
