zotero experienced error updating document

Hello, i've been experiencing this issue where whenever i try to add a citation in the word document, the file freezes for a bit and then shuts down with this message popping up "zotero experienced error updating document, would you like to view troubleshooting instructions?". For your knowledge, i've been enjoying Zotero for a while now with no issue but this one appeared suddenly and doesn't seem to go away even after doing everything in the troubleshooting instructions

The last step in the troubleshooting instructions explains how to isolate the problem. Unless it still happens when you completely delete the contents of the document (in a copy of the file), you haven't done everything there.
