Zotero as image storage for Tropy?

I'm wondering how smart it is to store images from papers with the respective entries in Zotero and link to them in Tropy for viewing (via Show in Finder in Zotero and drag and drop to Tropy). Will images slow Zotero down? I can imagine they won't because they are not indexed for searching, but I don't know.
