Problem with first name in the in-text citation

Hello,

I have some references where the initials of the first name appears in the in-text citation. The references seems fine in the Zotero software, and almost every citation is correct.

See the attached pictures of the Zotero software and how the citations is in the in-text.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Thank you so much! This makes sense as the same person in the author of very many studies. However, in none of the studies does the last name include any of the initials from the first name...
  • I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I think you're misreading the page?
  • Sorry, my english might be a bit off. In my library in Zotero I have 28 articles where Michael Mithoefer is an author. That might explain this issue, because he is named 28 times, with differences in initials/names. However, I have manually gone through every article and in every one the laste name is only "Mithoefer", never "M. Mithoefer" for example.

    Was that clearer?

This isn't about an initial in the last-name field. From the linked page:
You can fix this by going through your library and changing all names that refer to the same person to the exact same form, which will allow Zotero to disambiguate authors correctly in this style and other styles you use in the future.
If you've cited different items where the first and last name aren't exactly the same, Zotero will disambiguate them as separate authors according to the rules of the citation style.
  • Thank you so much! You literally saved my master thesis which is due tomorrow :) Thank you again!
