Word plugin not showing authors with special characters

Is there any way to get zotero to "ignore" special characters when looking up authors/papers in the word plugin? I have to cite papers from all over the world and it would be nice if i could look up a name like "Höhn" by typing "Hohn". Right now its incredibly inconvenient because i'll know what paper i want to reference but I won't remember which symbol is on top of which letter. Another example is a paper by Garcia-Prat. I can't remember if it's García or Garcìa and having to find the letter and copy/paste it just to see if thats returns anything is incredibly inconvenient.
