I wanted to check in on this. I thought this was an Adobe Acrobat error but then found that I get a similar error ONLY when opening a PDF with Acrobat through Zotero 7. I've tried all of the Adobe fixes for this and it seems to reside only in Zotero 7. If I open a PDF that is on any other drive on my PC (OneDrive, Dropbox, my C:/) with Acrobat it does not reproduce. It only happens when opening a PDF with Zotero 7 and it happens with every PDF. So, if I open one PDF and get the error, but then open another (adding a tab to Acrobat) I get the error again. As Younes.ab notes - I can click cancel and the PDF works ok, but this is super annoying. Screenshot of error attached.
I wanted to note that I just found some interesting details about this bug for me. It does not flag the reference memory error when I am using Adobe Acrobat 2017 on my desktop. However, on my laptop I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro (v. 2024.005.20320 | 64-bit), which is currently installed via Adobe's new online log-in tools (now used by my EDU institution), rather than a fully "owned" copy from previous Adobe software protocols.
So, I just found that I get the referenced memory error on all PDFs if I do not first open Acrobat Pro. That is, if the Acrobat Pro software IS NOT open on my Windows 11 laptop, any PDF opened via my Zotero library that subsequently initiates Acrobat Pro, will produce the referenced memory error for the first PDF (that starts the software) and any after it. However, I have found that if I open Acrobat Pro FIRST, but do not open any PDF, and THEN I open PDFs directly from my Zotero library, I no longer get the referenced memory error.
This is still an annoying little bug but I hope this helps identify the issue for a future fix! I'm still very much liking the new Zotero 7.
I'd be surprised if this is something we could fix. Unlike in the thread you posted to (which was about a different issue), this error message isn't even identifying zotero.exe as the source of the error, just "Windows". And all we do is launch Acrobat.exe with the PDF in question.
I believe we've only gotten one other report of this, so it's something specific to very few systems.
If you're running any non-standard security software, you could try temporarily disabling it. You could also try updating Windows, reinstalling Acrobat, disabling third-party utilities, testing with other PDF apps, etc.
Any fixes yet?

Here is a screen shot of the error again before closing (this debug ID is: D1514679179)
