Hello!

When I try to open a file in Zotero on my computer, I get the message "The attached file could not be found".
I added the file on Android, where I read and highlighted the text. Other files that I did not read, but added on Android, are opened from the computer.

I tried to fix the problem and followed this instruction: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/files_not_syncing.

I got to step 5 and here I am sending you debugID: D882604143.

I hope I did everything correctly.
  • See Step 5 again. We'd need to see a Debug ID for adding the file on Android and the subsequent sync, along with the zotero.org URL for the attachment item if this is about Zotero Storage.

    URL: ********

    Debug ID: D442957496

What did I do after “Start Logging” on the device where the file was added:
    - opened the file that was not synced
    - opened the library and enabled syncing
    - opened the file again

The file did not appear on the computer and Zotero Storage. I enabled syncing on the computer.

But that's not what we're asking for. We need a Debug ID that shows you adding the file and the subsequent automatic sync that doesn't upload the file.

And we need the URL after actually clicking on the attachment row in the Attachments tab in the web library, so we know what item you're referring to. (But I'm assuming it will include "TCDBSGPG", in which case we don't need it.)

Sorry, I misunderstood and misled you.

I have only one file that does not load. Its URL is: *********************.

All other files that I added to Android are loaded. I just checked with another file.
    - *****************************
    - D442957496

I added the file I was having problems with to the library on Android again. And it still did not load on my computer or in the web library.

My problem is that I selected text while reading on Android. I would not like to lose that. Maybe I don't understand something, and I can transfer these annotations to a new similar file. By the way, the annotations that I made while reading on Android, I can see on the computer in Zotero, although I can't open the file itself.

    File would exceed quota (327.7 > 300)
You can't upload it because it would exceed your free storage quota.

You should be seeing a clearer error about that in the Android app while syncing. Are you not?
  • Oh my god, right! Sorry :-)

I didn't see the warning. It only opens if you manage to click on the sync line. I just didn't click on it to see the message, and the line disappeared after 5 seconds.

Thanks for explaining everything. I was stupid :-)
