Questions about workflow at my organisation

Hi,

I work at an NGO with around 10 employees where we produce large reports.
We currently have all our documents in pdf format stored within Dropbox and manually cite our reports.
We are wanting to move to Zotero to help with citing and have already answered a lot of questions, but two bigger issues are still open and I would like to ask the community for some input.

1. We are planning to use groups to share for our various reports and want to link these items to the items in our organisational Dropbox. Is that possible? If so, how?

2. With our reports we need to attach document registers in Excel and used the Call Number field for an internal Document ID. Is there any way to automatically rename our .pdfs to include the call number? E.g. "ID-2024-001 - Paper Title - Author - year.pdf" where ID-2024-001 is what is contained in the Zotero "Call Number" field?

1. Basically, no -- file links don't exist in groups, they require Zotero storage. It might be possible to use the Dropbox web links, but that'd be a mess to set up and maintain

2. Yes, custom remaining, including using the call Number field, is explained in https://www.zotero.org/support/file_renaming

I was able to rename the .pdfs following the guide you mention.

(the documentation doesn't mention where this actually needs to be changed, so that could be improved. I only found it reading other threads).
