Why does my zotero take up so much memory on my computer?

I only have 259 documents, but zotero takes up a lot of computer memory, can any of you tell me why this is, and can you teach me how to solve this problem?

What is that top window from? That can't be memory. It might be disk space, but if so, something has gone very, very wrong.

This is the interface to view programs and features in the control panel, do you think it's a problem with the computer's disk? Or do I have to uninstall zotero and reinstall it?

If you go to C:\Program Files in File Explorer, how big is the Zotero folder?

My literature storage location is only 740mb on the E drive and I didn't retrieve zotero on the C drive

This doesn't have anything to do with your data directory. Windows doesn't know about that. It's about the Zotero program files.

As I say, you should go to C:\Program Files in File Explorer and look at the cumulative size of the "Zotero" folder.

Or I guess you installed it without admin privileges into AppData\Local\Zotero, so you should check that one.

I did install it in AppData\Local\Zotero so what to do with it.

Check the folder size in File Explorer, as I say.

I'm afraid we can't provide general OS guidance, so you'll mostly need to debug this yourself. I don't know what Windows uses to calculate the number in that control panel. All I can suggest is to check the size of the Zotero installation folder.

You can always uninstall and reinstall Zotero. Your data won't be affected.

Again, this isn't memory — it's disk space. And it's almost certainly not real. (Do you even have enough disk space on your computer that Zotero could be using 450 GB?) But yes, you should uninstall and reinstall.
