problems importing library with pdfs on MAC: pdfs disappear (does not happen on Windows)

I have created a Zotero library on my PC (Windows) with 5 subfolders and about 600 articles each with the corresponding attached pdf. If I export the folder I get: a Zotero format file and a folder containing 600 sub-folders, each containing a single pdf. (export process: https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u6271168/743qy8thwvkohxdcz8hk.png)
I have to make another colleagues import the same collection onto his PC: I move the Zotero file into the pdf folder and zip the folder. The colleague with Windows downloads the folder, opens Zotero on his pc, clicks import and ticks as seen in the screenshot below: https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u6271168/ss78nxrh4ehy5rqt3ucg.png
The operation ends with the library appearing directly organised into subfolders and each item has its pdf attached. The same procedure if carried out by 2 other colleagues on Mac imports the library but no pdf and the same screen appears when importing: https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u6271168/n9nv2ak8epir3bhzv887.png

is it possible that there is a bug for Mac? How can we solve this problem? We have tried exporting the library file in different formats like RIS but the problem on Mac remains.

Thank you.

What do you mean by this? When you export to Zotero RDF with files, you get an Exported Items folder containing an .rdf file and a 'files' folder. Those need to stay in the same relationship to each other — if you're moving the RDF file into 'files', that's going to break things.

OK, thanks for the comment: I had to merge the .rdf file with the pdfs folder in order to send it zipped. As you say though once dezipped the Zotero format file has to be separated from the file folder with the pdfs so it works. Thank you, it was therefore an error in the management .rdf file in the same folder and not related to Windows or Mac.
