Lost PDFs after Zotfile Installation

Hey everyone,

I was trying to link my Zotero to my Obsidian account today. I watched a YT video of a guy explaining how to link the two. I installed Better BibTex and Zotfile. I created a new folder in Obsidian and put the Zotfile directory in that folder. I then exported my library in Better BibLaTex to my Obsidian vault. Then I used Zotfile to rename all my attachments. According to the video, this should rename all files and move them to the Obsidian folder created for PFDs. While it certainly did that for some files, most of the files were not moved to the obsidian folder.
While this is an inconvenience, it would not be such a big problem. But what actually happened is that all my annotated and tagged PDFs were replaced with HTML links, and when I tried to access the documents I got a message saying: "File not found The attached file could not be found in the following path: ...". So, in trying to streamline my research process, I have deleted several years of academic work. My online library is also already synchronised with the now (broken) entries. In addition, Zotero was updated to Zotero7 after this process was completed. Zotfile is no longer supported.
Is there any way I can recover my old files? And if so, how do I do that?
I have an older backup of my Zotero on my old Mac, but every time I try to set those files as the directory for Zotero, it syncs with my online library and the HTMLS files replace the "old" files (the ones I want to work with).
I hope I have made my problem clear. Any help would be greatly appreciated, because if I can't recover my old files, several years of work will be lost.
Thanks in advance!
