How do I remove DOI from my bibliography when using ACS style?

I read other posts and followed the Editing CSL Styles Guide. On the Zotero Style Editor it shows the correct format I want it to appear in- without the DOI. But in the bibliography on Word the DOI still appears. I have restarted both Word and Zotero to double check as well as making sure I chose the right citation style. I don't understand what's wrong.

How I want it to appear:

  • The style includes the DOI if available. Maybe your test item just doesn't have a DOI.
You'd need to edit the style. What journal is this for?
  • The test item does have the DOI, I can attach a full screenshot of how it looks in the Zotero Style Editor before I remove the command that adds DOI from the ACS citation. I've highlighted the commands I removed. It shows up fine on the editor but not in Word.

We haven't submitted to journals yet. I'm only in the process of writing and wanted the choice of removing the DOI if possible.

    Before:

    After:

  • You can just delete this line: <text variable="DOI" prefix="https://doi.org/"/>

You'll need to give the style a new ID etc. as explained here, otherwise it will not recognise it as a new style: https://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step
  • Note that ACS _strongly_ prefers citations include the DOI for submission. They are used by the typesetters to ensure accurate citation linking
  • I figured out what was the problem. Even though I was making sure the correct citation style was chosen on Zotero, you also have to change it in Word in the Zotero tab > Document Preferences.

It was saved with a different name!
This is just a draft I will switch the citation style back to the original ACS to get the DOI if needed.

    Thanks for the help :))

There's no "also" there. The Document Preferences window is where you choose the style for use in your Word document. There's no general place in Zotero where you could have "choosen" a style. (The Style Manager in settings, if that's what you're referring to, is just for adding/removing styles and doesn't have any sort of permanent selection.)
