Problems with adding a Bibliography

I just recently tested out Zotero, as I will need it for my bachelor thesis. However it won't let me add a Bibliography.

I have no trouble adding citations in new or existing documents. But whenever I click on "Add Bibliography" I always get a notification saying "Zotero experienced an error updating your document."

I have looked at the troubleshooting pages, however I didn't find anything for my specific case as most cases involve troubles with adding citations in general or just formatting issues. I did reinstall Zotero, the Zotero plugin and restarted word - however nothing seems to work.

Has anyone experienced this before and would be able to help? It would be greatly appreciated!

    Can you provide a Report ID after triggering this? What citation style? Can you reproduce it in a new, empty document?
  • My Report ID after reproducing it in an empty document was the following one. I use the citation style of our university.

    [JavaScript Error: "The operation couldn't be completed. (OSStatus error -1708.) @[setBibliographyStyle:document.m:854]" {file: "resource://zotero-macword-integration/messagingGeneric.js" line: 216}]

    appName => Zotero, version => 7.0.10 (ARM64), os => macOS 15.1.1, locale => en-US, extensions =>
  • That's not a report ID. You should hit OK after seeing this (so the report is sent), and copy the actual report ID number and paste it here (so that Zotero people can find the report).
  • Oh sorry, thank you for clarifying!

    My report ID is: 1154474512
  • If it works with one of the built-in citation styles, there's likely some problem with the custom style you're using. You should ask your university to validate the style (or you can try).
