Mac error syncing or communicating with Word

Adding citations to a paper and all was well until I got an error message that there was an issue adding the citation. Zotero would no longer sync or communicate with word. I restarted everything several times, including my computer. The sync wheel spins grayed out until the program crashes. When I updated Zotero to 7 it reinstalled the Word plugin, but it did not solve anything. I have the latest version of all software, plug-in and connector - including Mac OS.

When I generated this code everything seemed to work - sync and connection to word.
I cleared everything, added back sync for all my libraries and generated this report: D371058345
The error happened in the middle of adding citations to an article that I had downloaded from google drive in word format (it had comments, but all appeared normal). After adding 5 different endnotes I got the error and everything stopped working. I have to have a colleague do the work for me to meet the deadline. I would like very much to avoid this again, so any advice you can offer would be appreciated.
